If you're considering getting an eyeliner tattoo, it's important to prepare yourself for the appointment to ensure the best results. In this blog, we'll guide you through the ultimate checklist of things you need to do before your eyeliner tattoo appointment.

  1. RESEARCH AND CHOOSE A REPUTABLE ARTIST

Before booking an appointment, do your research to find a reputable artist. Look for someone who specializes in eyeliner tattoos, has a portfolio of their healed work, and positive reviews from previous clients. Don't be afraid to ask for referrals or for a consultation before booking your appointment.

  1. AVOID BLOOD THINNERS

Blood thinners can make you bleed more during the tattooing process, making it harder for the ink to implant. So, it's recommended that you avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment if possible. As always ask your doctor before removing yourself from any prescribed medications.

  1. AVOID CAFFENINE

Caffeine can make you jittery and anxious, which can make it difficult to sit still for the tattooing process. So, it's best to avoid caffeine for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

  1. WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING

Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment, especially around your eyes. Avoid wearing anything too tight around your head, as this can cause discomfort during the procedure.

  1. BRING A PHOTO OF YOUR EYELINER

Bring a photo of your eyeliner with you to the appointment. This will give the artist an idea of the look you're going for and help them customize the eyeliner tattoo to your liking based on your preferences with their knowledgeable guidance.

  1. AVOID SUN EXPOSURE

Sun exposure can cause your skin to become more sensitive, making the tattooing process more painful. It can also cause your skin to peel after the procedure. So, it's best to avoid sun exposure for at least 1 month before your appointment. Being tan can also cause pigment to heal uneven, splotchy, and wonky. Try to be your natural skin tone.

  1. DON'T WEAR CONTACT LENSES

If you wear contact lenses, it's best to leave them at home and wear glasses to your appointment. The eyeliner tattooing process can cause your eyes to water, and contact lenses can trap the moisture and cause irritation. We also recommend wearing your glasses for the following week, no contacts, after your procedure to minimize the "in and out" around the eye area.

  1. ARRIVE ON TIME

Arrive on time for your appointment. The time that it takes to fill out any necessary paperwork is included in the timeframe of your appointment.

      9. NO LASH EXTENSIONS

Please have lash extensions professionally removed 1 week prior to your appointment to ensure the skin is not irritated in any way. Do NOT pull them out as this will cause irritation at the base of the lash line and cause the procedure to be very risky. We can only tattoo healthy, intact skin!

     10. DON'T WEAR EYE MAKEUP TO YOUR APPOINTMENT

We don't want to have to vigorously wipe makeup off around the eye area. This can cause added irritation. Which can cause extra trauma such as swelling and even bruising during the tattoo procedure.

To wrap things up, preparing for your eyeliner tattoo appointment is essential to ensuring the best results. Follow this guide to ensure a smooth and comfortable process, and don't hesitate to ask your artist any questions or concerns you may have. With proper preparation and an experienced artist, your eyeliner tattoo can be a game-changer in your beauty routine!
