I’ve had this idea in my head for years.

Not weeks. Not months. Years.

And now it’s actually happening.

If you’ve listened to our podcast for a while, you probably know I’m not exactly known for sitting still. I’m always thinking about the next thing, the next idea, the next way we can grow, teach, create, or make the permanent makeup industry better.

But this one feels different.

We’re expanding.

Ms Amber Red Permanent Makeup Studio is coming to the Las Vegas Arts District.

Yep. I said it.

And if you listened to this episode of the Inspired by Ms Amber Red podcast, you probably heard the excitement, the nerves, the swearing, the deep breathing, and the general “holy shit, are we really doing this?” energy that came with announcing it.

Because we are.

We already have the keys.

And now there’s no turning back.

The Dream I’ve Had for Years

For probably seven or eight years, I’ve had this idea of having a small, cozy studio in the Arts District in Las Vegas.

There’s just something about that area that I love.

It has an energy that’s completely different from a traditional office building. There’s art, music, tattoo artists, restaurants, small businesses, people walking around, events, and just a general creative vibe.

And honestly?

That’s what I’ve been missing.

Don’t get me wrong. Our current studio has been amazing. We have an incredible space, amazing people, and a training room that allows us to do things that this new location simply won't accommodate.

But the current location is still an office building.

The Arts District is different.

It feels alive.

And after spending time in Los Angeles when I was younger and being surrounded by creative people and different types of art, I realized how much I missed that environment.

I don't just want a place where I tattoo people.

I want to be part of a community.

I want to be surrounded by other artists, business owners, tattoo artists, creatives, and people who are doing things a little differently.

That’s what makes this move so exciting.

Why the Las Vegas Arts District?

If you know Las Vegas, you know the Arts District has its own personality.

It isn't the Strip.

It isn't a giant shopping center.

And it isn't another cookie-cutter office park.

It's creative, weird, colorful, artistic, and constantly changing.

And that's exactly what I want.

Our new permanent makeup studio will be located right next to Dustland, which makes the location even more exciting because we're going to be surrounded by other creative businesses.

And yes, the studio has a garage door.

That might sound like a small thing, but I am ridiculously excited about it.

The idea of being able to open the garage door, have the inside connected to the outside, and actually feel like we're part of everything happening around us is so damn fun.

We're already talking about special events, getting involved with the local community, and finding ways to make the studio more than just a place where people come in for permanent makeup.

I want it to be a place people want to hang out.

We’re Not Leaving Our Current Studio

Before anyone panics — no, we're not immediately shutting down our current location.

We actually have a good reason to have both spaces.

Our current Las Vegas permanent makeup studio has something incredibly valuable that the new space doesn't:

Room.

We have a larger training area there, which is important for our hands-on permanent makeup training, workshops, apprenticeships, and other educational opportunities.

The new Arts District location is intentionally smaller.

It's cozy.

It's more intimate.

And that's exactly what I wanted.

So both locations have their own purpose.

The current studio allows us to continue doing the larger-scale things we're already doing.

The Arts District location gives us an opportunity to create something completely different.

And honestly, I think that's pretty damn cool.

This Is About More Than Opening Another Studio

I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned after more than 13 years in the permanent makeup industry is that growth doesn't always look like what you think it's going to look like.

When I started my business, I wasn't sitting around thinking, “Someday I'm going to have multiple locations and take this thing across the country.”

The goal was much simpler.

I wanted to build something of my own.

But once you accomplish one goal, you start seeing what's possible beyond it.

And that's where things get dangerous for me.

Because my brain doesn't really understand the concept of stopping.

Sasha joked during the podcast that the plan is eventually to retire me and let me become the creative person while she handles all the business stuff.

I'm not entirely opposed to that.

But obviously, we're joking about it.

Mostly.

The Bigger Dream: Taking PMU Across the Country

The Las Vegas Arts District location isn't necessarily the end goal.

Actually, it definitely isn't.

We're already talking about traveling around the country and bringing permanent makeup education to artists in other areas.

We've talked about getting an RV and taking our training and knowledge on the road.

And yes, the East Coast is already on the list.

Nashville has come up.

New York has come up.

The Midwest has come up.

There are talented permanent makeup artists all over the country, but there are also areas where artists don't have the same access to high-level PMU education, hands-on training, mentorship, and experienced artists.

That's something I want to change.

I've been fortunate enough to spend more than a decade learning this industry, making mistakes, figuring things out, teaching other artists, and watching permanent makeup evolve.

I don't want to keep all of that knowledge in one building in Las Vegas.

I want to take it with me.

Why I Still Get Nervous Even After All These Years

Here's the part people don't always see.

Just because you've been doing something for a long time doesn't mean you stop being scared.

I'm excited.

I'm also nervous as hell.

There is a big difference between saying, “Wouldn't it be cool if we had a studio in the Arts District?” and actually signing a lease, getting the keys, hiring contractors, paying for renovations, and realizing:

Oh shit. We're actually doing this.

We've got floors to deal with.

Walls.

Paint.

Baseboards.

Vanities.

The place used to be a nail salon, so there is plenty of work ahead of us.

And if you know me, you know interior design isn't exactly where I thrive.

I'd much rather be tattooing somebody than picking out flooring.

But that's part of building something.

There are always going to be parts of the dream that aren't glamorous.

Sometimes chasing the dream looks like sitting around imagining your perfect studio.

And sometimes it looks like ripping out baseboards and dealing with contractors.

You don't get to pick only the fun parts.

What Happens Next?

We're going to take you along for the entire process.

That's one of the reasons we decided to talk about this on the podcast before everything was finished.

We haven't created some perfectly polished announcement where everything is already done and we're standing in front of a beautiful finished studio.

We're at the beginning.

We're figuring it out as we go.

You're going to see the renovations.

You're going to see the ugly parts.

You're going to see things not go according to plan.

And hopefully, you're going to see this little space turn into exactly what I've been picturing in my head for years.

That's the fun part.

If You're an Artist, Pay Attention to This Part

One of the things I hope artists take away from this episode is that you don't have to have everything figured out before you start.

I've never had everything figured out.

If I waited until I had the perfect plan, perfect finances, perfect circumstances, perfect timing, and zero fear, I'd probably still be sitting around talking about doing this.

At some point, you have to make a decision and figure the rest out.

That's not saying you should be reckless.

There's a difference between taking a calculated risk and blindly throwing yourself into something.

But fear cannot be the thing making every decision for you.

If you want to open a permanent makeup studio, start researching.

If you want to become a permanent makeup artist, get educated.

If you want to start teaching, figure out what you need to do to become damn good at it.

If you want to travel and teach permanent makeup, start building those relationships.

You don't have to know exactly what step 47 looks like when you're standing on step one.

Just take step one.

The Permanent Makeup Industry Is Bigger Than One Studio

Permanent makeup has changed dramatically since I started.

The techniques have changed.

The machines have changed.

The pigments have changed.

The education has changed.

And the opportunities for permanent makeup artists have grown like crazy.

But I don't think we're anywhere close to being done.

There are still artists who need better education.

There are still clients who don't understand what they're getting tattooed into their skin.

There are still techniques that need to be taught correctly.

And there are still people who have permanent makeup from 10, 15, or even 20 years ago that need experienced artists to help them figure out what to do next.

That's why permanent makeup education matters so much to me.

And it's why expanding isn't just about having another place to tattoo clients.

It's about creating another space where we can continue doing what we've been doing for years — permanent makeup, education, creativity, and community.

A Dream Doesn't Have to Make Sense to Everyone Else

This might be the biggest lesson from this whole thing.

Your dream doesn't have to make sense to everybody else.

People are always going to have an opinion.

They'll tell you it's too expensive.

They'll tell you the timing isn't right.

They'll tell you it's too risky.

They'll tell you you're already busy enough.

And sometimes they're right.

But sometimes they're just projecting their own fear onto what you're trying to accomplish.

I've always had a hard time accepting the word “no.”

Not because I think I'm invincible.

But because my brain immediately goes:

Okay. So how do we figure it out?

That's how this happened.

There were reasons I hadn't done it sooner.

Downtown Las Vegas is expensive.

The spaces are often bigger than what I wanted.

The timing wasn't right.

There were a million reasons not to do it.

But eventually, we found the right space.

Small.

Cozy.

Creative.

In the Arts District.

And suddenly the dream that had been sitting in my head for years became something I could actually touch.

We had the keys.

That changes everything.

So…What’s Next for Ms Amber Red?

Well, we're going to build this thing.

We're going to renovate the studio.

We're going to continue serving our permanent makeup clients.

We're going to keep educating artists.

We're going to get more involved with the Las Vegas Arts District.

And we're going to see where this takes us.

Maybe there will eventually be another location.

Maybe we'll hit the road in an RV and bring PMU education to artists across the country.

Maybe we'll end up in Nashville.

Maybe New York.

Maybe somewhere we haven't even thought about yet.

Honestly, I don't know.

And that's okay.

Because if there's one thing I've learned from building this business, it's that you don't need to know exactly where you're going to be five years from now.

You just need to be willing to go.

And right now?

We're going.

This new Las Vegas permanent makeup studio is something I've wanted for a very long time, and I'm incredibly excited — and slightly terrified — to finally make it happen.
