1. Don’t Skip a Thorough Consultation

One of the biggest mistakes PMU artists can make is rushing the consultation. Taking the time to discuss the client’s desired look, their eye shape, and their personal preferences is essential. Skipping this crucial step could lead to unrealistic expectations or a final result that doesn’t align with their vision. You can even provide a quick sketch!

2. Don’t Use One-Size-Fits-All Techniques

Not every client’s eyeliner will look good with the same technique. The importance of customizing each procedure based on the individual’s eye shape, skin type, and personal style. One size does not fit all when it comes to eyeliner.

3. Don’t Neglect Pre-Procedural Care

Failing to advise clients on pre-procedure care—such as avoiding alcohol, and certain medications, and lash serums—can lead to complications or unnecessary discomfort during the procedure. Ensuring they follow these guidelines helps you deliver a smoother, safer process.

4. Don’t Overdo the Thickness

While bold eyeliner can be stunning, avoiding excessive thickness, which can overwhelm smaller eyes or make the eyeliner appear unnatural. You never want to black out an entire eyelid.

5. Don’t Forget to Educate on Aftercare

Proper aftercare is critical for long-lasting, beautiful results. Its important to clearly communicate aftercare instructions—such as keeping the area clean, avoiding touching with dirty hands, and following proper healing techniques. Without the right aftercare, even the best procedure can fade or become uneven.
